Automated Data Analysis Policy

  1. Leafweb provides free, automated data analyses to global photosynthesis research community.
  2. The types of analysis available may be adjusted from time to time, depending on the interests of global photosynthesis research community and progresses made by Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Terrestrial Ecosystem Science (TES) Science Focus Area (SFA)
  3. Leafweb expects the users conduct necessary data quality control before their data are uploaded to Leafweb for automated analysis.
  4. Leafweb expects the users provide accurate metadata and contact information as specified in the Leafweb Input Sample file, to the extent possible.
  5. Leafweb reserves the right to refuse services to anyone who repeatedly uploads erroneous data to Leafweb.

Data Sharing Policy

  1. By using Leafweb free online services, users agree to grant the Leafweb operator access to their original data and Leafweb results
  2. Leafweb preserves a copy of the original data submitted as well as the Leafweb analysis results.
  3. Users, not Leafweb, are the owner of both the original data submitted and Leafweb analysis results of the data.
  4. A registered user is allowed to have access to their own and others’ data stored in Leafweb. However, any use of the original data and Leafweb analysis results in any publication by anyone other than the data owner is contingent upon the approval from the data owner.
  5. It is the responsibility of the data user to contact and obtain approval from the data owner.
  6. It is the responsibility of the data owner to ensure the quality of their data.
  7. Leafweb may publicly release a subset or all of the data uploaded to Leafweb for analysis by one or multiple users if all users do not object to the release. A public release means that anyone, with or without registration with Leafweb, can have access to the data.
  8. Any public release is assigned a DOI and citable. The authorships of the release will in general be ordered based on the size and quality of the data a user contributes, determined by Leafweb. One or more Leafweb scientists may be listed as a co-author.
  9. Publicly released datasets can be used for any scientific or educational purpose as long as the data source is acknowledged.
  10. Leafweb data sharing policy may be revised at any time in accordance with the US DOE scientific data policies.
  11. Violators of this data policy may be prohibited from using Leafweb data.
